Showreels

Showreels of my process in puppet fabrication & set building for the project muisstil

Projects

" muisstil " 5 minute animated short-film

" Muisstil " tells the story of a lonely elderly mouse watching tv who gets reminded of her former passion for baking,
when she absentmindedly adds a mysterious ingredient to her muffin batter it spirals into unexpected chaos.

Visual Development

For Muisstil i was in charge of the art direction.
I also did some early prop design and muffin character designs.

Story development

I was also in charge of making the story beats and making the (second half) of the animatic.

Set bulding

My roles were: Painting of objects (plates, fridge etc...), weathering, laser cut antique cupboard darkend with ecoline, Clay fridge magnets, Miniature muffin drawings, Wallpaper design, set dressing, and a LOT of glueing.

Puppet building

For the puppet of our main character i was in charge of the main armature (Spine, legs and the entire head).
As well as making the head of Mien. For her head i needle felted over foam, and later cut a hole in the foam to make space for the armature.
I added depth to her ears using dry pastels and layering them. Mien's nose is made with silicone, for this i first sculpted the shape in plasticine and made a plaster mold.
Before pouring the silicone i suspended glass head pins in the mold so the nose would be easy to insert into the head.

" Otter " Animation test + puppet

This otter is an orginal character i made for the stopmotion minor introduction week,
in this week we had to create a character, puppet and animate it.

Character

I wanted to create an anthropomorphic sweet looking character with a fun jacket that i could create myself!
The character sketch is made with a mix of gouache and coloured pencils.
The otter itself is needle felted with a foam base and a very simple wire armature. The clothing was sewn and made by me.

" KAT & KONIJN " 1 MINUTE SHORT

Kat & Konijn just can't seem to get along, until a thunderstorm shakes up their life.

Kat & Konijn process

For kat & konijn i was in charge of the script and part of the storyboarding / animatic. I made the character designs for Kat & Konijn and created Kat (Armature, felting etc...).
For the set i created a few furniture pieces.
I animated Kat, edited out rigs and other irregularities and was in charge of the post production.

Vibrant colours, handmade textures and playful designs is what you’ll find looking at my work, often explored through a variety of mediums including stop-motion! Through expressive characters and bright colour palettes I aim to connect with younger audiences, while still sharing meaningful and strong messages. My work explores stories and emotions that are often overlooked, bringing perspectives to light that deserve to be seen.
